“Gratitude Tree” sounds more elegant than this simple project actually is– but I guess the elegance is in the gratitude, not the tree itself.
Our family recently went on a church retreat and one of the activities was adding a leaf with a noted expression of gratitude to a “tree” made of sticks. I thought this was so lovely, we decided to make our own gratitude tree. Our family gathered sticks in the back yard and arranged them in a mason jar. We then tucked the mason jar into a favorite basket with a scrap of burlap. The tree can be made from whatever you have on hand.
We used a die cut machine and scrapbook paper to cut out leaves and Thanksgiving shapes, and jute string to tie on the leaves.
We keep a cup with extra leaves, string and a pen beside the tree. The kids have loved having this at the center of our table, and as inspired, add leaves of gratitude. It’s so simple, and the best part is having the daily discussion and reminder of what we’re grateful for.
