Five Ingredient Chocolate Torte

  • 1 stick of butter, cut into small pieces
  • 8 ounces of bittersweet chocolate
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • Pinch of salt
  • Powdered sugar or chocolate ganache

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Lightly butter the bottom and side of a 6-inch springform pan.
  3. Combine the chocolate and butter in a double boiler. Place the bowl over a saucepan of simmering water and stir until melted and combined. Remove the bowl from the saucepan and let cool slightly.
  4. Combine the eggs, sugar and salt in a large bowl. Beat with a mixer on medium-high speed until light in color and thick, about 8 minutes.
  5. Fold half of the melted chocolate mixture into the egg mixture until just combined, then fold in the rest.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake until the top doesn’t jiggle and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean, 35 to 40 minutes. Transfer to a rack and let cool completely in the pan.
  7. Remove the springform ring and transfer to a platter.
  8. Dust with powdered sugar.
