Pucker up, ya’ll! These all natural, Grapefruit Mint lip balms are a family favorite– no chapped lips here. You can always find a mason jar of these in my fridge. And, stray ones can be found all over the house– I even found one in the washer this morning (oops!). I like using mango butter, because it’s unscented, lighter than shea butter and absorbs faster.
There are so many variations to this recipe, you can add color or sparkle in mica powder, or use different essential oils. I only use Young Living, but make sure you know your essential oil brand, ingredients and sourcing. Keep in mind citrus oils can make the skin sun sensitive. These are easy to make and use all natural ingredients. Enjoy!
First prepare your containers– if you’re using lip balm tubes, I usually uncap and rubber band mine together. This makes them easier to fill. Have all your ingredients ready to go and EO lids off. This is a small batch and you’ll need to move quickly once you begin filling the containers.
Measure your first three ingredients into a glass pyrex over a small pot of boiling water. This makes a quick, easy double boiler so your ingredients won’t scorch.
Mix with a silicone spatula until fully melted- the beeswax is usually last to melt. Hang in there and keep stirring.
Let the liquid mix cool slightly and add in your essential oils and mica powder (optional).
Stir quickly and pour into your prepared containers– lip balm or lip pots work great. You can use a plastic dropper to easily fill the tubes or pots. Move quickly, this small batch solidifies quickly. Once you have filled your containers, let the liquid turn solid and cool completely. Put on lids and store in the fridge. Use washi tape or fun labels to dress them up. These all natural lip balms make simple but decadent homemade gifts.
