7 Simple Steps to Make a Fabric Farmhouse Bunny

What’s better than a project you can create in one sitting? One that uses supplies you already have! Make this adorable and simple fabric farmhouse bunny using my pattern and your fabric scraps. I used leftover pink ticking from my heart pom pom pillow and supplies I had on hand.

Here’s what you’ll need:

• Scrap fabric, I used this pink ticking. Drop cloths, gingham, another color ticking, or any cotton fabric would work fine.
• Scissors
• Pinking shears (optional)
• Poly-fill stuffing
• Needle and thread to match your fabric
• Sewing machine (optional)
• Ribbon, pom pom yarn or twine to embellish
• Straight pins

Let’s Make a Fabric Farmhouse Bunny

Step 1

Print and cut out the bunny pattern. Pin the pattern to the fabric and cut out two bunnies.

Step 2

Place fabric wrong sides together and begin stitching at the middle edge of the bunny, with a 1/4 inch seam. The opening in the middle is so you can easily stuff both ends of the bunny. The seam edges will be rough, this is by design for the farmhouse look and feel.

Step 3

Leave a 2 inch opening and stuff the bunny with polyfill. Fill the ears and feet, then the middle. If you want to fold down one ear of the bunny, don’t overfill the ear.

Step 4

Once you’ve stuffed the bunny as desired, press the fabric edges together and sew the rest of the way around the bunny.

Step 5

If you want to fold one ear down, lightly tack two stitches with the ear folded and knot.

Step 6

You could use pinking shears to zig zag the edges, or let them naturally fray, like I did mine. If you want to start the fraying process, just run your nail along the edge of the fabric.

Step 7

Tie a cute ribbon, twine or desired trim to embellish your bunny. I had this pom pom yarn in my stash, that I think was just meant for these bunnies. And not so much the scarf I bought it for, ha!

Then, help them find a home. Place an odd number in a basket with eggs. This would make an adorable centerpiece with matching napkins, or use the bunnies to decorate a mantel. Pair a couple on your coffee bar or stick a few in mugs.
